The approval was granted during a meeting of the Adviser’s Council Committee on Government Purchase on Tuesday, presided over by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. According to meeting sources, the procurement will be made from the Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Agri-Nutrients Company as the 16th lot for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The bulk granular urea fertilizer is priced at $390 USD per metric ton. The committee approved the move following a formal proposal submitted by the Ministry of Industries.

In addition to the urea procurement, the committee also approved a separate proposal for the import of refined soybean oil to stabilize the domestic essential commodities market.
