While the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) experienced a minor decrease in transaction volume, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) displayed a contrasting trend, with its total turnover nearly doubling compared to the previous trading session.

Market analysis shows that the DSE’s primary index, DSEX, dropped by 30 points on Thursday to settle at 5,286 points. The other two indices of the premier bourse also witnessed declines, with the Shariah index slipping by 2 points and the DS30 index by 3 points. Out of the 389 issues traded, the prices of 113 advanced, 220 declined, and 56 remained unchanged. This widespread drop in share prices contributed to a cautious atmosphere among investors.

In contrast, the Overall Share Price Index (CASPI) of the Chittagong Stock Exchange fell by 93 points to close at 14,805 points. Despite the index dip, the port city’s bourse saw a significant boost in trading activity. Of the 199 companies traded at the CSE, 65 saw price gains while 114 faced losses. Financial analysts believe that the overall trend reflects a period of consolidation as investors adjust their portfolios ahead of the new month.
